Actiongirls nude Watch Video Big boobsfucked. Now, watching him caress Stacey's wiping hand, I wonder: Either way, is the latter an amplification or a distillation of the former? Does the one begin where the other trails off, or are they two distinct entities somehow occupying a single space? Start by stripping the story of William Shatner's past fifty years to its signal plot points:. It is then that Shatner begins a five-year stint, first on The Practice , then on Boston Legal , in a role—as a blustery, buffoonish lawyer named Denny Crane who trades on long-lost greatness—that is so frankly a point-on mockery of William Shatner's career and symbology, that is William Shatner, that it's at first embarrassing to watch. It is also in that Shatner follows up on his LP, The Transformed Man —a compilation of spoken-word cover songs unlikely to be supplanted as the most ridiculed album ever made—with a CD called Has Been , a collection of original prose poems set to music by Ben Folds. Anyone ever subjected to The Transformed Man gasps, "How dare he? Boston Legal is an even greater revelation. Something Shatner brings to Denny Crane, something sad and lonely, wise and true, and—can one say it? Not only does Shatner suspend disbelief and disappear into Denny Crane more than he has with any other character he's ever played, but the previous fifty years of Shatnerology are instantly recast, inverted—retroactively subject, it seems, to the inverse physics of some parallel universe. William Shatner, in fully embracing the notion that William Shatner should not be taken seriously, is at last taken seriously as an actor, and is nominated six years in a row for an Emmy, winning twice. On whether he was offered a part in last summer's Star Trek , directed by J. Be gay. Kelley, the legendary television producer and creator of Boston Legal , it's just…ridiculous. Priceline, may I please have your autograph? Tellingly, the greatness of Shatner's Boston Legal performance arises from its ambiguity, the unresolved questions it generates both about Denny Crane and the man playing him. Denny, for those who never watched the show which concluded in December , is just plain fucking wonderful. He's a megalomaniac prone to chirping his own name aloud during sex, in casual conversation, and in court. My poop doesn't smell. Comes out in pretty colors. Denny Crane! Or he may be using his "condition" as pretext to say, eat, smoke, shoot, and grope whatever and whomever he wants. He bangs a cocktail waitress in a coat closet at one of his own wedding receptions. Watching Denny Crane divides your consciousness. You experience him as Crane rather than the actor playing him, even as Crane delivers lines whose only purpose is to remind you that he is being "played" in every sense both by William Shatner and the nova of meanings that is SHATNER. We're like stars in our own show. Only the star doesn't have only one leading lady. Though sure , sometimes at the end of an episode it looks like he's settling down with someone, but the next week she's not there—it's somebody else! It's a way of holding up viewer interest. I'm the big gun on this boat, the captain! And you're nothing but a skinny, overpaid deckhand. I am the deckhand who steers the ship because the captain isn't up to it anymore. I think he was able, at that point in his life, to embrace the parody and then let it go, so that it wound up being a perfect—and perfectly timely—melding of actor and role. When God strips you of your talent, he should at least have the decency to strip away the memory of having had it. How much does he know, and how much has he known—and when? Is he daft and blessed with some kind of stupid luck? Or has he been in on the joke from the beginning? On an album consisting entirely of preposterous cuts, the most preposterous on The Transformed Man was Shatner's cover of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man. The first is an aggressive bark. Tambourine Man! The second and third are furtive, edgy, out the side of the mouth. The fourth and last is unhinged, the throat-ripping shriek of a boar being gored on a pike. Allow me to explain further just how meta is this business with "Mr. How could it not? The reverberations of that thunderclap continued for thirty years. Each new role, each new career phase, brought press coverage—coverage that made repeated reference to that album, to that cut, to that screaming. The references were obligatory, necessary to put Shatner in context and, to some degree, in his place. There was no way William Shatner was ever going to escape "Mr. That is, until he did, thirty years later, in , when he escaped "Mr. Tambourine Man" by—of course! As Shatner himself says, "The Negotiator is an invention I had a big hand in. When they were writing it, they didn't quite know how to handle this new campaign they were doing. Yes, it started with the songs. But how to handle them? Then I realized: The Negotiator is insane! His very life depends on his ability to convince you that you— you , Andrew— have to get this bargain! The odd phenomenon whereby make-believe Shatner begets real-life Shatner begets make-believe Shatner, and so on, began to spread. Which is how to name just one example Shatner's role as a beauty-pageant host in the Sandra Bullock vehicle Miss Congeniality led to his hosting the fiftieth-anniversary Miss USA pageant a year later. It is impossible to witness James Spader's steady, unapologetic physical bloating over the five-season run of Boston Legal and not suspect that Shatner's emphatic speech patterns aren't his only contagious quality. Cognizant as Shatner is of the butterfly effect associated with Transformed Man , it hasn't occurred to him that there might be something "ironical" about naming one of his horses Mr. This becomes apparent as Shatner shows me around one of the farms outside Lexington where he keeps horses. We come upon a stall and there he is. He's 2 years old. He's beautiful. Tambourine Man," Shatner says, and then, when I burst into laughter, "What's so funny? He said, 'It's total self-delusion, and it works! William Shatner arches an eyebrow and then responds to this assessment in the most remarkable way. I stand there for a moment. And then, if only because William Shatner has asked for it, I lean into the stall and lay my mouth upon Mr. Tambourine Man's nose. It is almost impossible to look into the eyes of a horse and not judge yourself. I think there is something about this that Shatner knows in a deep way. I want you to kiss Mr. Tambourine Man, Andrew! Go ahead, KISS! Smell his breath! I want you to smell Mr. Tambourine Man's breath! Go ahead! Tell me what you smell! Tell me! It's a perfect thing for McCarthy to have written. When creating the sixth season of Power Rangers , the writers decided to create an intergalatic series that would close the first six seasons of the show. However, the staff later learned that while Megaranger had space vehicles, in reality, the show never left Earth. The writers decided to proceed with the space angle anyway, and this is reflected in some of the show's dialogue and the sets, some of which especially the bridge of the ranger's Astro Megaship are clearly inspired by Star Trek. We're in his Los Angeles office on a Monday morning. Something David Kelley says about Shatner helps to make sense of what's going on here: Less than thirty-six hours ago: Now, seemingly after just a beat, here's Shatner, serious as a heart attack, speaking of his third marriage. After, Leonard called me and said, 'You know she's an alcoholic, don't you? I said, 'But I love her. On the evening of August 9, , Shatner returned to his Studio City home to find Nerine, to whom he'd been married less than two years, naked at the bottom of the deep end of their swimming pool. The details of this have been well covered. Suffice it to say that it was terrible. She did suffer from alcoholism, was acutely drunk when she died, and was conclusively determined to have broken her neck on the bottom when she dived into the pool that night. For the purposes of understanding how Shatner became a far better actor in the past five years than he was in the previous five decades—because, as Bill D'Elia suggests, he'd reached a place where nothing could touch him—it is worth considering the death of his third wife. It is arguably the other terror, though, the weirder, less well-known one, the one that began even before Shatner met Nerine and continues to this day, that explains the transformation. If the death of his third wife made him untouchable in a certain respect, it is the other terror that has left him—and that in turn left Denny Crane—"touched" in the ancient, supernatural sense of the world. Marcy [his second wife] and I were walking along the beach in Malibu, and I said, 'Doesn't it seem to you that the waves are louder tonight? But there is a harder element to it. I think of it as an evil sound. I'm listening to it now. For the first five or six years, it slowly and steadily became louder. I just thought that if I buried myself as much as I could with work, that I would be able to force it out of my mind. But it kept. I saw every doctor. Every specialist. I remember one man I met, a world-renowned expert. He had it. He'd gotten his more or less at the time I'd gotten mine , and our progressions were very similar. And as we talked, we both acknowledged, out loud, for the first time, what we each had not been, alone , man enough to admit: Those moments out in the country, the starlit sky, the sound of a single cricket, were gone. Or those nights where there was only the breeze on the waves of the sea: And we began to cry. Even at this moment, as I speak to you, I have to work to discriminate between what I am hearing in my head and the sound that is occurring outside my head. It is horriffic. In those first years, I'd have the television on all night. It affected my marriage. I became suicidal. I thought about the ways [to kill myself]. But then, for some reason, I don't really know, I stopped. And I went in another direction. I sought to… embrace it. To go INTO it, to make that sound a part of my body, or perhaps to make my body part of that sound, do you see? This was the mysterious essence of Denny Crane, the way he seemed attuned to some cosmic frequency no one else could hear. This is a trademark gesture of Crane's that Shatner and I have discussed at length—his knack for greeting the frozen stares of others in response to something appalling he's said or done with an incredulous open-palmed shrug and a half-breathed, half-spoken " Wha…? So I grab some dwarf's ass? And then the phone rings. It's Conan O'Brien. There's an emergency. Can Shatner come and do this afternoon's taping? Sarah Palin delivered her resignation speech yesterday, and it was…madness. A sublingual splatter. Dangling participles to which dangling participles had attached themselves like barnacles. Will Bill please, please , come onstage and, with a stand-up bassist and a bongo player behind him to frame the moment, deliver select portions of her speech as if it were the most profound stream-of-consciousness Beat poetry ever composed? It's beyond meta. Transformed Man redivivus via the Priceline Negotiator. It is, to borrow Shatner's own word, insane. This is precisely what David Kelley's talking about. The slam-cutting: At The Tonight Show , Shatner does his piece and then abides in his private greenroom. That night's other guests, all ostensibly more A-list than Shatner, gather one by one to pay homage. She seems nervous. She should be. Oh, William! Shatner, remaining seated, extends a hand, which she takes and kisses. Shatner doesn't miss a beat. Just turns his head in my general direction, though not his eyes, which stay with Streep. After the lesser stars are gone, Shatner turns and says, "Did I tell you that I woke up thinking of you the other morning? I've got an idea for an article for you! I was up early, sitting outside having a cup of tea. There were the greening mature trees, in the fullness of the flowering of the summer. The trees were voluptuous , Andrew! Swaying in this breeze. And there were great birds wheeling overhead! And the chimes, the wind chimes, were striking so beautifully, and everything was in rhythm. And I began to think—are you ready? Where do they come from? Whence their mystical role in human history? They vibrate, Andrew. They vibrate , and the sound leaks out. Into the infinite. And I vibrate. And the vibration of the bell goes through me. Pereira entered the empty sound stage and, looking for something to do, walked through the mysterious door on the back of the set and entered into a bending and wavering corridor, at the opposite end of which one can see an identical door. Kevin went through to the other end into a seemingly identical sound stage and headed back out to the hall where the same employees were toiling away. Only, now they were sporting goatees and carrying out various acts of violence, one employee shredding another's arm in the paper shredder, and another hammering a bloodied animal onto the wall. The skit cut to what was presumably that day's later live broadcast. Sarah, Wil, and Brendan were all on the couch answering chat questions. Sarah asks Kevin's answer to a chatter's question regarding the PS3 versus the Xbox Wil hands him a mace upon which he goes to torture the chatter in a segment dubbed "Fresh Blood," in contrast to the normal show's "Fresh Ink. Kevin begins to torture the man exclaiming, " This evil world rules! Later in the real show, a chatter asked Kevin if he found the bearded Sarah sexy. He said yes, claiming that the entire alternate dimension was hotter, trying to make a joke from the fact that he has a goatee in real life. Another chatter asked if Kevin got away with anything in the alternate universe. Kevin claimed he was able to double-dip at the craft service table. This was even more humorous, as no G4 shows had any form of craft services, only a break room with various forms of free canned sodas. Kevin, Olivia, and two unnamed engineering personnel try to fend off the attack, eventually leading up to the Bird-of-Prey's captain Wil in Klingon makeup making demands for a graphic with obscene narration. In August , the TV series Breaking Bad featured an extended conversation about Star Trek in the mid-season premiere, "Blood Money", of the show's fifth and final season. Characters Brandon "Badger" Mayhew and Skinny Pete very stoned discuss Star Trek , and Pete while smoking from a bong claims that every time a character uses the transporter , the original person is actually destroyed, and the transporter simply makes a perfect copy a "color xerox" at the target location. This greatly disturbs Badger, who asks if this means there were something like 1 47 different Kirks during the run of the TV series, each of whom were killed and replaced by a duplicate when they used the transporter. Pete confirms this is exactly what he is saying, and cites that Dr. McCoy rarely uses the transporter because as a doctor, he knows what it actually does to people. Badger and Pete go on discussing Star Trek , and Badger describes an idea for a Star Trek script which he has had for a long time. In his script, the crew's mission has been boring and uneventful for some time, so they decide to hold a pie-eating contest in the mess hall — " Tulaberry pies". Pete says that he doesn't know what tulaberries are, to which Badger responds "Tulaberries, from Gamma Quadrant , yo. They're eating blueberry pie. Badger goes on to explain that the pie-eating contest comes down to just Spock, Kirk, and Chekov. Pete thinks Kirk would have room to spare, but Badger insists that Spock is winning because of his heightened Vulcan metabolism. Kirk has to admit defeat, but the only other crewmember still in the contest besides Spock is Chekov. Ingeniously, Chekov and Scotty collaborated to rig the contest, so as soon as Chekov eats a pie Scotty uses the transporter to beam his stomach contents out into space, so he can eat an infinite amount of food. Spock is becoming very frustrated and doesn't understand how Chekov can keep eating. Unfortunately, Lt. Uhura then comes into engineering and Scotty, distracted by her "pointies," hits the wrong button, and suddenly Chekov is vomiting up blood — Scotty accidentally beamed his internal organs out into space as well. Xander recognizes it as Klingon love poems. Later, in the final season, after Xander has a bad date with a demon, he asks Willow to "gay him up. This Flemish-language Belgian tv series often parodied popular culture, including on a few occasions Star Trek. Already in the first episode, "de jongerenfoon", an on-the-scene reporter reporting from the moon ends his report by saying "beam me up, Scotty" and being beamed away. The episode "Kitch en kunst" Kitsch and art parodies the perceived tendency of Flemish films to focus on farmers according to one character by showing, among other genres, a bit from a film described as science fiction: It shows "farmer Spock" piloting a harvester, and coming upon giant potatoes, which he reports by communicator to "farmer Scotty". Jonathan Frakes cameos at the beginning as a convention attendee getting Castle's autograph. The murderer also refers to a character in the show who was revived by an "Andorian empath". Armin Shimerman puts in a cameo as a science-fiction gadget inventor, owner of the initially darkened premises Castle and Becket enter, finding themselves caught in targeting laser beams, emulating a signature Borg scene as featured in Star Trek: First Contact. Shortly after this, a moving comment by D'Ghor Koru leads to him and Dr. Stern, Koru and Spratt eventually try to save two people who were impaled on the same flagpole using a phaser with its polarity reversed, which surprisingly works for a moment before both die. Stern and Koru then signal their starship for transport as the rest of the doctors walk out of the room. In season 2 episode 7, there is a sketch of the "Starship Preposterous" which is clearly a parody of TOS. The Chaser team mocks the use of elaborate scientific names and the way in which the crew get themselves into and out of trouble. In the deleted scenes there are more sketches which never made it to air — including one where the crew ask why every alien they meet is 6 foot tall and bipedal. Logan asks if a Halligan lying on the apparatus floor is a Lirpa , causing him and Otis to talk about Amok Time episode. The Wrath of Khan word for word. Chuck and Bryce speak Klingonese to each other, in one situation so Chuck could confirm to Bryce without alerting the enemy that he was wearing body armor. Agent Rye does the Vulcan nerve pinch to a guard and initially claims he learned it from Star Trek , then says he really learned it in Bangladesh despite being a fan of the show. In the episode "Creature", Mr. Lobo uses the phrase "boldly goes where no one has gone before" "Also luckily for Astronaut John the slightly softer and more man-friendly Susan boldly goes where no one has gone before. As the last man on Earth , Mr. Lobo decides he could open his Star Trek: In the forth season episode "The Flu", Clarissa imagines that she takes command of the Enterprise when the other crewmembers go ill. An extended comedy skit that opened this awards show broadcast June 16, saw country singer Taylor Swift placed in several out-of-character circumstances, such as a rap video and the new Star Trek. In the latter, Swift was outfitted in a Starfleet uniform, given Vulcan ears, and digitally placed in Kirk's stead during the scene in the film where he and Scotty are brought to the bridge, giving evasive, sarcastic responses when ordered by Spock to answer his questions — when host Bill Engvall , also in uniform arrives on the bridge, she vaporizes him with her phaser. Stephen Colbert "mistakes" Kurn for US Republican Presidential primary candidate Rudy Giuliani , and the scene of Picard rhetorically asking, " What does this say about an empire that holds honor so dear? Congress in which Colbert asks highly inappropriate questions, which, knowing the interview is satirical, are sometimes met with equally inappropriate answers , Colbert and New York congressman Dan Maffei , an acknowledged Trek fan, donned fake Mirror-Spock goatees for much of the interview, playfully attributing the questions, and answers such as "I enjoy cocaine", to their "evil twins". The segment also ended with Maffei giving Colbert a Vulcan salute. He later puts it on himself and is beamed up. Kirk can be seen in Ward Fawler Shatner 's living room. William Shatner was a roaster on the Comedy Central roast of Charlie Sheen, which aired on September 19, , and several Star Trek -related jokes were made by, and directed at, him. It was hosted by Seth MacFarlane. Shatner joked about how he'd slept with green women and how to shock people in his day he'd have to do stuff like kiss a black woman or let an Asian drive. Lots of collectibles are shown passing through the store, including, unsurprisingly, occasionally Star Trek merchandise. The very first episode, "Junk", already sees the sale of Star Trek: The Next Generation commemorative plates at a flea market. She ends up reenacting her famous interracial kiss with store regular Brian Johnson. The episode "The Esposito Collection" reveals that Mike considers Data one of his top two robots of all time. The same episode is signed off by Keven Smith saying "Live long and prosper, children. In the episode "Sucka M. Many of his classic Star Trek performances are discussed, including the funeral of Spock, which Smith calls one of his favorite performances ever, and Kirk shouting "Khaaan", which he offers as an example illustrating his argument that Shatner is one of the most memorable actors of the last fifty years. At the end of the episode "Hometown Heroes", Kevin Smith announces that just like a wrongheaded network executive back in the day, they'll have to "end this enterprise". Tom Brady is mentioned, though it is erroneously claimed that if he went in space he could "out-Kirk Kirk". In the sixth special, a special segment was produced on the bridge and observation lounge sets from Star Trek: In the segment, Data and La Forge beam back to the Enterprise after discovering some artifacts from 20th century Earth on a planet. Crusher notices that "Whoo-pie" looks an awful lot like Guinan. When she ponders if "Whoo-pie" and Guinan are one and the same, the entire crew replies with " Nahhhh. Troi asks how well the special did, and Data replies that the previous specials raised over twenty million dollars which went towards helping homeless people and that the mantra used by Comic Relief , which used humor throughout, was "Where there's laughter, there's hope". The Wrath of Khan come up. Pierce dresses up as James T. Kirk for a Halloween party. Later Troy attacks him with the words " Beam this up, Scotty. In your face! The episode also features narration by George Takei. Pierce arranges for LeVar Burton to meet Troy. LeVar asks him if Troy knew him from Star Trek: The Next Generation ; Troy confirms this in the following scene when he cries "Set phasers to love me! Britta picks up a hat owned by Abed emblazoned with the words " Trekkies do it in the Final Frontier ". Depicting the aftermath of the episode's "darkest timelime", Abed cuts out several brown felt goatees resembling the one bore by Spock in the mirror universe. After declaring his intentions to return to the prime timeline and kill the good versions of themselves, the rest of the group leaves, leaving Abed and Troy to don their goatees and dub themselves "Evil Troy and Evil Abed". It looks exactly like the style of holodeck used on the USS Enterprise -D , and has a similar function in the series, except for the fact that there is no imaging technology, instead relying on the user's imagination. Troy is given a universal translator at the start of the episode, before he goes to sail around the world with LeVar Burton: Abed tells him to " Engage " as he departs. You never go to a star, not one time. Carlos asks Keira "Did anyone tell you you watched too much Star Trek as a kid? A character named Cathy who is a hoarder says " Space. I thought his eyes were steaming up because he was so excited. Every time I talked to a girl I tried to make my eyes steam up. In "My Dinner in Hell", Mariella Frostrup can be heard talking about the cast of the Original Series during her live broadcast near the end of the episode. The I'm a doctor, not a Scientific errors on Star Trek are discussed, with Reed pointing out that since it was made so long ago, there aren't really many. Reid not only names TOS: Reid tells the new member of the unit, Ashley Seaver, that the famous phrase " Beam Me Up, Scotty " was never really uttered in the original Star Trek series. Morgan Sheppard. In one episode, Bug says he's working on a Fan fiction story where Kathryn Janeway has to have sex with a Borg. To show Greg that Archie was the better choice for a specific kind of evidence analysis, Nick asks Archie about a particular Trek episode involving a time portal. As one of the guys is about to make the Star Trek reference, another guy cuts him off before he finishes, possibly because uttering the franchise would have raised legal issues with CSI's studio. He calls the cat "Mr. K" or "Kobe. The team begins finding bodies that have green blood. While it is found that the victims had extremely high levels of sulfur in their systems which caused the green blood, Hodges and DNA tech Wendy Simms argue over the particulars of Vulcan blood. While Hodges believes it is sulfur that makes Vulcan blood green, Wendy corrects him, saying it is actually copper, revealing herself to be a Star Trek fan. Written by former Star Trek: Deep Space Nine writers Naren Shankar , Bradley Thompson and David Weddle , contains a subplot about the remaking of an old science fiction program named "Astro Quest", leading to a murder on a science fiction convention. Hodges, while inspecting a corpse, addresses detective Jim Brass and says " He's dead Jim ". He turns out to be a huge fan of "Astro Quest", along with his assistant, Wendy Simms. Another part of the episode parodies " The Gamesters of Triskelion " with Wendy spoofing Shahna , and another makes Wendy into an Orion slave girl analogue from " The Cage ". The title itself is a parody of the classic title Moore who cameos as the first person to denounce the remake experienced when remaking Battlestar Galactica. A seemingly mob-related murder occurs. Investigation by Horatio and the team leads them to a pair of film students who are writing a screenplay which describes the crime exactly as it occurred. Those students hence become suspects. In a scene during which the two are working on their script, they discuss a character who has the line " Today is a good day to die, " a reference to the timeless Klingon saying. One of the boys then suggested that that character be black, referring to Worf , played by Michael Dorn. The investigators confront a suspect at a Halloween party in Klingon makeup who talks to them in Klingonese. One of the investigators translates and when his associates look at him funny indicates he learned it years ago. The episode's murder victim is a roller derby girl who goes by the name " Wrath of Connie. A guy is killed during a festival. They go to his home and the refrigerator appears to be full of alcohol where one of the detectives says "Our victim looks like he was on some sort of Star Trek diet, you know, the kind where people have evolved past needing to eat real food. Jonathan Frakes guest-stars as himself, putting the moves on Cybill after they do some sci-fi project together even though she won't date actors. When she asks her ex-husband Ira to tell him over the phone that they're together, saying he's " the second-in-command of the starship Enterprise ," Ira responds, "Listen, Nimoy , stay away from my woman! If the bald guy dies, he's the boss! Eli says that some toy phasers were stolen from his storage unit. Shatner has intimately acquainted her— everything Shatner says and does, no matter how mundane, is intimate and urgent in equal measure—with his quest for the perfect cappuccino. It is time for his verdict. Stacey approaches with a tremulous smile, arms hugged to her chest. Oddly, Stacey offers her left hand for him to take. A man? A god? Finally, Shatner said, he realized: Now, watching him caress Stacey's wiping hand, I wonder: Either way, is the latter an amplification or a distillation of the former? Brad initially had a strong relationship with Lori Colson, though upon her departure from the firm he grows close to Denise Bauer. The two later have a child together, and marry shortly after. Shortly after the third season, he leaves the firm to begin work as an Assistant District Attorney. With a propensity to remind her younger colleagues that she's "Schmidt", Shirley is tasked with reining in Denny's preposterous behavior, directing litigation, and practicing law. Prior to founding her firm, Shirley attended Wellesley College where she met her share of intelligent Harvard students. Shirley used to have a romantic relationship with Denny, a past she now views with sardonic detachment, often making jokes about it. She is portrayed as extremely desirable in the series: She eventually marries Carl Sack in the series finale. Paul is skilled in client relations and is an expert in Far Eastern markets and legal problems of corporations doing business in that part of the world. Unlike Denny and Alan, Paul generally does things strictly "by the book. His middle-aged daughter, Rachel, is introduced in Season 2 as a meth addict, and Paul has her abducted and placed in a rehab center. He takes custody of her daughter and his granddaughter Fiona. After this, being tied up with being a daddy to his grandchild he is seldom seen in the Boston office. Denise Bauer was introduced as an aggressive young attorney at the start of the show's second season. Her distractions over the divorce cause her trouble with some cases, though she later settles on compensating her husband with a single-time alimony payment of one hundred thousand dollars. In season two, Denise begins a relationship with a terminally ill man named Daniel Post, a romance that leads to her travelling to a haunted house to retrieve his head following his death. Denise's first professional blow is delivered when she is passed over for partnership in Spring , despite being considered a safe bet. In season three, Denise discovers she is pregnant with Brad's baby, and as of the seventeenth episode, she had decided to have the baby. She later marries Brad Chase, and after taking extended maternity leave, accepts a partner position at a different law firm. She later returns as opposing counsel. She is shown to be fluent in Italian. Garrett Wells was introduced in the second-season premiere as a brash young attorney who is obviously attracted to Denise. He is not all that effective in the courtroom, being humiliated on more than one occasion by no-nonsense judges. He is also intimidated by Catherine Piper, the caterer and former assistant to Alan Shore, who actually runs him out of his own office. He is not seen after the end of Season 2. It is unclear whether he is still with the firm or was let go by the partners. During season two he begins a relationship with a paralegal, initially bringing disgrace to the firm due to their mistimed sexual encounters. Bush performs " The Chemicals Between Us ". In the same season episode, "Better Luck Next Time", a detective tells his partner played by Megan Gallagher , that the man claiming to be invaded by an alien parasite, "might be missing from a Star Trek convention". Later in the episode, the same man uses the Vulcan nerve pinch on another character. Snodgrass , and Joseph Stefano. Joseph L. Scanlan and Adam Nimoy directed episodes, while Joel Goldsmith wrote several scores for the series, and Mary Jo Slater served as casting director. In the third season episode 'Summer of '92', there is a scene at a swap meet where Jerry is trying to sell a model of the starship Enterprise from Star Trek: Star Trek Into Darkness although at that point still unnamed and simply referred to as a Star Trek sequel is mentioned, and Ben Wyatt wonders if the romance between Uhura and Spock will continue. Sketch show featuring the pre-Crocodile Dundee Paul Hogan. It led to his national fame within Australia. Trek is parodied on several occasions, notably as "Star Trot" featuring a Spock with ears somewhat like Prince Charles and an Australian character seemingly based on Scotty, and also a send up of the tagline "To go boldly where no man has gone before" showing Captain Kirk going into the ladies' toilet. In the fourth season episode "Holiday", Jez calls Mark Scotty, and tells him to engage warp factor three. Mark's inner monologue then considers Jez to be "cross breeding with aliens" while he is "down with the probably cancer causing engines". In the sixth season episode "Das Boot", Mark sarcastically asks his wife if she's decided to name their child Spock among other weird names. In "Just Desserts", when Larry suggests that selling Balki's bibi-bobkas could prove to be a good venture in American free enterprise, Balki misinterprets him by asking if he'll get to meet Captain Kirk and Scotty, to which Larry corrects him by saying " No, Balki, that's the starship Enterprise. In "Car Tunes", when Balki and Larry hide in Larry's car trunk to try and find out who's been stealing his car stereo, the car begins to move with them trapped inside and running out of air, leading Balki to describe his plan to escape, having seen it in TOS: We're out of dilithium crystals! McCoy griping " Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a machine! The episode "Water You Thinking? When creating the sixth season of Power Rangers , the writers decided to create an intergalatic series that would close the first six seasons of the show. The decision to make a space show was finalized after seeing sketches of Denji Sentai Megaranger the Japanese show that Power Rangers in Space was loosely based off of of spaceships and the rangers riding surfboards in space. The show even featured a "simu-deck" that in one episode suffered a breakdown as well as food synthesizers that functioned very similar to a replicator. During the 12th season premiere which aired on September 12, , one of the showcases dealt with archeologists of the future discovering long-lost prizes from The Price is Right showcases buried underground, complete with the theme from Star Trek: The Motion Picture playing over several prize descriptions. He replies, " It's the show which those people watch who have no lives ". Shawn and Gus investigate a crime at a comic book convention. In order to enter the convention without tickets, they pose as George Takei 's assistants. Takei appears as himself — he is initially confused by the strangers who claim to know him, but is soon convinced by their story and their promise to bring him fresh blueberries. Gus, an admitted Trek fan, salivates over the prospect of spending time with one of his idols. Shawn, however, has only a fleeting knowledge of Takei, never quite getting the name Sulu correct, and mistaking basic Trek facts. A reference to Star Trek: Attempting to convince Shawn that Duos is not simply a copy-cat show, Gus states that, on Duos , two people sing at the same time and they must be in sync with each other — to become one with each other, " like V'Ger and Stephen Collins in Star Trek I. Unlike the Enterprise computer, Holly rarely gets things right. A number of episodes are also set on a shuttlecraft, which has to be fixed up regularly. Besides the hologram Rimmer, many episodes are set in holographic alternate realities such as the "Better than Life" game. There is also a Talkie Toaster, which might be seen as a parody of the voice activated food replicator; tractor beams and various shapeshifting characters. Robots in fact made an early appearance while aliens never have, in contrast to Trek. The latter have been replaced plotwise with G. The episodes " Holoship " and " Trojan " feature uniforms similar in structure to those in use from the late s to s and from onward , respectively. The unmade episode " Identity Within " would have featured the Cat going on a Pon farr style sex rampage. In the episode Nanarchy, the crew discover exactly who stole their ship, and try to communicate with the nanites, in what might be seen as a parody of Wes Crusher's unintentional release in the TNG episode " Evolution ". In the episode " Bodyswap ", Rimmer and Lister swap bodies so that Rimmer can exercise Lister's body without the latter having to do any work. When Lister's body winds up in worse shape afterward, having swapped back, Rimmer tries to shift the blame by pointing out problems Lister already had, stating. In the episode " The Last Day " at the end of season 3, Mechanoid Kryten is to be replaced by a newer model and has been ordered to terminate himself. His crewmates rally round him in support, promising to reject the replacement. Astonished, Kryten remarks: The episode " Legion " had Kryten telling Rimmer he would use an "Ionian Nerve Grip" to knock him out, only to then hit him on the head with a vase. Also to be seen are a number of derelict ships taken from other franchises, including a Vor'cha -class ship. In " Back To Earth ", the four main characters mention that "transporting" is a method of travel used on Star Trek. Kryten uses a Psi-Scan, an instrument analogous to a tricorder which appears in a number of other episodes. The episode Epideme mentions a universal translator. In most other cases Kryten translates, but such a device is hinted at elsewhere. Terrorform features a planetoid on which fantasies go horribly wrong and could be seen as a parody of Shore Leave Planet. The first episode of this BBC political satire series featured a sketch in which a technology company had developed a virtual reality game which allowed CEOs of multinational corporations to experience what it would be like to pay tax. The room in which it is set is black with yellow squres, identical to a Holodeck. In the season four episode "Santa Claus", Roseanne finds out that Darlene has befriended the owner of a bookstore who would like to take Darlene to a Star Trek convention with her. This is also what Hendorff calls Kirk in the barfight scene in Star Trek. A scientist named Jim dies in a chamber that fills up with sarin gas. Star Trek Into Darkness. Walter sucks the air out a room, leaving Toby unable to breathe, in order to rescue a building full of people. Needs of the many Star Trek II: A minor character is named "Major Janeway ". Sylvester rallies his fellows nerds at the Renaissance fair to stop two crooks with a speech in which he mentions the phrase "Live long and prosper". Sylvester defeats a computer by occupying it fully with a conundrum like Kirk did many times in Star Trek: The visual effects, in the form of the fledgling technique of CGI , for the series were produced by visual effects company Amblin Imaging , which was especially established for this series, counting among its staffers Robert Bonchune. Both company for the first two seasons of Voyager and Bonchune later worked on Star Trek , whereas Bonchune's supervisor, Michael Shea, was at the time engaged and later married to Star Trek art department staffer and model maker Dana White. The series, running for three seasons, was produced by Universal Studios. Actually, the series was an unadulterated and clearcut Star Trek franchise emulation attempt, as Universal was one of the major Hollywood studios that became increasingly envious of Paramount Pictures for its long-lived financial success it enjoyed with their Star Trek franchise. They wouldn't say that aloud, but that was what they were going for. They were trying to find Star Trek under water. Everything was there, except for the stories. They didn't have enough of a human element so they'd get caught up in the technology It was plain as day to people working on the show. Everything was right. They were spending the money to make the graphics look good, the CGI looked great, the sets were well lit, they had a pretty good cast It still wasn't Star Trek. Voyager , pp. The failure of the series though, eventually led up to Universal revisiting its old Battlestar Galactica franchise, ultimately resulting in Ronald D. Moore 's revamped version, which started its run in The episode "The Foundation" includes several Star Trek moments: Jerry quoting Star Trek II: The Search for Spock was better than Wrath of Khan , and George looking up and bellowing as the camera spins around him, a parody of the famous sequence from Wrath of Khan. The bellowing-and-spinning camera sequence would be parodied again in the episodes "The Dealership" and "The Susie. In addition, writings in this universe were shown inverted, as if you were looking directly into a mirror. This special aired in after the first season of Star Trek: Voyager and the third season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , and was created by Shadoe Stevens. The car driving scene in the montage included what sounded like a type 2 phaser sound from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: The very end of the special contains the sound when the Enterprise -D enters warp drive in Star Trek: Set in a distant future, after a nuclear cataclysm which has destroyed human civilization as we know it, the series revolves around an Earth where magic has replaced science and is inhabited by humans and their mutated offspring, elves, trolls, gnomes and dwarfs, all at odds with each other, though with elves as the dominant sub- species. After an ancient evil is set to re-enter the world, an elf, elf-human hybrid and a human are sent on a quest to find a defense against this evil, forced to set aside their differences. Witnessing the once peaceful co-existence between humans and "elves" in a distant past. In this episode the three heroes chance upon a human settlement, where its inhabitants are dead set on re-initializing human civilization as it was before the fall. In order to do this, they are collecting as many ancient artifacts as possible as they are able to, trying to reverse-engineer the science behind it, not entirely unsuccessfully as they are able to generate electricity, in a world otherwise devoid of it. One of the items they have procured is an old movie projector and what they believe to be an actual historical recording depicting some of the achievements of the ancient humans, shown in a recurrent festival. What they have actually obtained was a Super 8 film reel of Star Trek: Kirk and Spock are seen in discussion aboard USS Enterprise , also fleetingly seen, and likewise taken as proof of the great achievements of ancient humans. This the settlers take as evidence that elves mistaking Spock for one, as they, like Vulcans, have pointed ears and humans have worked harmoniously together in a dim and distant past. Shortly after the showing the village is overrun and destroyed by trolls, its inhabitants killed and with the three heroes barely escaping with their lives. Modern-day Sherlock Holmes starring Benedict Cumberbatch. John Watson tries to sooth Holmes, after he rambles about emotions being 'the grit on the lense; the fly in the ointment' by saying. In the episode "Chaos", Bisley specifically makes a reference to the idea that the odd numbered Star Trek movies are worse than those which are even , when discussing the idea of certainties. Not only was Pegg's first appearance as Scotty in the Star Trek movie, the eleventh in the series, but he also co-wrote Star Trek Beyond , the thirteenth. But later that afternoon, after Shatner and I have parted ways, I begin to regret having been referential rather than reflective with my answer. I don't know what to say to that, so I go with, "Take me through those 'Mr. Tambourine Man's you do at the end of the song. Let's try to find him! Shatner darts his eyes right, then left, leans forward, and discreetly mumbles the answer under his breath. And because there's that orange light. Beaming down! Surrounding me! I'm getting a little nervous now. Need my fix! Starting to suspect he's gone. He's… gone. Oh, fuck, he's GONE! He may be the son of a Montreal schmatte man, Shatner, but he's a goddamned American treasure. No two ways about it. Completely self-originating, yet also our creation, a living, breathing expression, in exaggerated form, of the country's underlying anxiety about its own greatness—whether it's spent, and perhaps whether it ever was. Behold Shatner, at a county fair in rural Kentucky, clad in gray topcoat and white snap-brim, pacing an American saddlebred named Courtier around a ring. There are fourteen other competitors, nearly all pageant-pretty sylphs possessed of plumb-line posture and three taut buns one hugged by black lace to the back of the head, the others tiny and arced beneath second-skin riding pants. Yet your eye goes to the man, that man with the bowed legs and outthrust gut and butt—the two cantilevering each other—more thick than fat, like a potbellied iron stove, face as red as raw chuck with ertion, dollop-y pinwheels of sun cream reemerging through the pores, yet wholly in the moment, wholly unselfconscious… Say, is that the Priceline Guy? It's an absurd sight gag— he's gotta be delusional, right? What is it? An essence. Something you know and feel, as surely as you see the slate gray sky outside your kitchen window and smell the fresh-brewed coffee inside it—yet something that cannot be apprehended directly by any one or more of the five senses. Resistance is futile, of course. You aren't in Shatner's presence ten minutes before he reverse-engineers your emotional state; first, you adopt those conversational rhythms of his—everywhere, the jelly! Know this: William Shatner has been suspended in a perpetual state of lovemaking , a glowing bubble that radioactivates every word and gesture made by the man afloat within it. He will speak with a delivery that borders on the maniacal about…whatever— coffee! Where's it going? What's the point? But then Shatner, having had his say about the jelly , will just sit back and smile at you emphatically. What's with the smile? It's part of the story—the end of it, a punctuation mark that's half exclamation point and half challenge. You need more? It's also a way of asking you to consider what it was you liked about the "story" as he was telling it. Was it the content? Couldn't have been, because there wasn't any. What is the point? You might as well ask what the point of lovemaking is. And now Shatner makes love with me, and me with him, as he speaks—seemingly about how he came to be a breeder and rider of competitive American-saddlebred horses but really about the nature of…everything. San Joaquin Valley. Wandering around, near where I'd been involved in a Shakespeare festival. And in the middle of nowhere, at the foot of the Sierras, I come upon it. Like Brigham Young, This is the place! I find a person to live in the house and take care of the land, who asks, Why don't you run a horse? So I go to an auction, and I'm sitting with an acquaintance's son, a beautiful little boy, and I'm talking with some animation to him, my hands going up and down like this, and then next thing I know the auctioneer yells SOLD! What do I do? Say I raised my hand accidentally and look idiotic? I was ostensibly there to buy a horse, was I not? And Fate said: Why fight fate? I have been accused of never saying no. With my roles. With my endorsements. Prior to founding her firm, Shirley attended Wellesley College where she met her share of intelligent Harvard students. Sara Holt is a smart lawyer who isn't above using her own beauty to help her client. Sara works primarily with Denise Bauer, though she entertains the idea of a relationship with Alan Shore, and the two date on one occasion. She departs the series in season two. On an album consisting entirely of preposterous cuts, the most preposterous on The Transformed Man was Shatner's cover of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man. The first is an aggressive bark.
